A front cover design for the up-and-coming paperback book, "Audio Post-Production for Film and Television."
Title: Audio Post-Production for Film and Television
Author: Mark Cross
Dimensions: 6x9, with a quarter-inch bleed
Berklee Press logo to appear in top right corner
Audio post production is the process of combining sound effects, dialogue, music, and "Foley" (acted out sound effects to add realism, like footsteps), in order to produce the final soundtrack. It is very technical, detail-oriented, fast-paced, and imaginative. The cover design needs to evoke professional level audio engineering appeal, but also make the link to the exciting world of film. It's the kind of book that can transform someone's life and career.
From a technical design perspective, our logo must appear in the top right corner. The design must have a quarter-inch bleed. The title must be very clearly readable, even when reduced to an inch high. The title must appear in the top half (or third) of the design, and the author name must be below it (anywhere).
ABOUT ATTACHED FILES
Attached is an AI file with our logo. It has a black banner with a red logo; we only need the red part for 6x9 books.
Also attached are two of our book covers that were successful with a similar market audience as the one where this book is going to appeal.
Finally, please look at the Zip file (audioimages.zip), which includes graphics related to the work environment where engineers in this field function. These photos are all graphically problematic and shouldn't be used too literally, but they might provide some inspiration.
