Book Cover for Fantasy Novel

Waterstone Media is an independent publishing company selling digital and physical books through the internet.

I'm looking for a cover design for a book, 1563x2500 pixels for the front cover - winning designs will incorporate a full physical cover (front, spine, and back) . I would like the book to incorporate the following elements:

Preferences:

Mood: The book is somewhat dark, so I'd prefer cooler colors that are still easily viewable in thumbnail.

Elements: The book is about nightblades, who are a samurai/ninja class of warrior. They wear black/dark robes and have no armor. They possess the "sense" which allows them to anticipate moves moments before they happen. Japanese swordsmanship is also a key element. This book follows two main characters, a young man and woman who are nightblades. There are two main settings of the book - one part happens on an island which is a tall, nearly inaccessible plateau sticking out of the ocean. The second part happens in wide open prairie. All events are occuring in a backdrop of a country torn apart by a war. (To be clear, I'm not expecting all of the above elements are present in the cover - I just want to be descriptive of the subject matter).

The first main character of the book is a young male, 20, nondescript, average height, and dark hair. - Back views or silhouettes would be fine.

The second main character is a young female, 19, also of average height with dark hair. She's written to be attractive, but she's a warrior first.

This is my second time with a 99 designs contest, and I was blown away by my first contest. I'm not a designer and recognize that, and I don't have any specific idea for the cover - however, I try to run a good contest - I'll provide honest and frequent feedback to try and let people know what's working and what's not. I have attached the cover/winning design from the last novel so you all can see what ended up winning last time. I'd love if the next cover can keep some of the same feeling as the first.
