This novel is a young adult[YA], science fiction[SCI-FI], action and adventure, fictional tale. The setting is Ice Age America, a land fraught with giant monsters, two mile thick glaciers, and worst of all, the man eating gigantopithecus.
What's your vision?
The book cover for this novel- titled The Last Heroes Before Judgement- pictures the two protagonists at the bottom of a pit, fighting for their lives. The pit is lined with spikes that are mostly covered by a smokey haze. We find the two heroes back to back; one on the left and one on the right. The moon is not quite full, however, the trap ensured that it is completely out of view. From their extreme north position, the moon's light would originate in the south east, ere go, rays would descend from the top-right corner of the book and not penetrate any further than half way down the pit. Now, on the right is Major Charles Swiftblade, a bald black man that is in full uniform. The full grey dress begins with black boots and ends with black gloves. There are no markings, as the Commandoes conceal their identities. The uniform has wide shoulder pads supporting a hooded cape. The hood is down at the moment. Over his face is the perfectly sized shell of a Black Diver-a sea turtle. Major Swiftblade had previously carved out two deep holes for his eyes, and the outline of a scary face with fangs. Also, some time before the fight it was also scratched by a lion and has three claw marks diagonally across the center. Most important are the Drakkah Gauntlets. On his right hand, the charging gauntlet. A spring loaded sword that can be retracted and is capable of spinning along an axle. On his left hand, the firing cannon. Because of the electrical charge, the barrel need not be massive. The cartridges exhume a pressurized sphere of gelled nitroglycerine that is trapped in a controlled instance of ball lightning. One such round has been fired up at the enemies above. Major Swiftblade is mostly blocking Cadet Matthius from view. The younger man stands a full head shorter than his master but is much bulkier as a result. Most of his body is covered by the uniform issued to first year trainees. His boots, and gloved gauntlets are both made of small Black Diver- sea turtle- shells. He must also wear a giant black shell, worn as a backpack, for training and shielding purposes. Because of his short height, the pointed end comes down to his knees. He is in a defensive position, blocking incoming fire and protecting Major Swiftblade's back. We can not see either of their faces. We can, however, see that Matthius has a hilt, an implant of pure gold installed into the back of the head. The hilt is shown as a crescent moon turned on it's side to open upward, centered on the head (think about a very plain cross bar on the hilt of a sword). His hair is long, but tied up for the combat. The top knot is simple- the way a barbarian would do it- pulled up high and centered, wrapped with a tight string, and the tail is tied to itself with a single knot. The other end of the string is tied to the long canine of a saber tooth tiger that knocks on the back shell with every move. Their enemy is a primitive beast, launching hollowed reeds at them like spears. The cuts that are left on our heroes are circles, and Major Swiftblade can have one or more stuck in his muscled frame- because he is all that is man! Thank you :)
