kayemcarter got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Create a Distinctive Book Cover for Set Free to Thrive
Check out kayemcarter's Book cover contest…
My organization serves to inspire and equip individuals and groups become liberated from the fear-based thinking to create lives that thrive. THE BOOK for which I need a COVER targets contemplative adults ages 18-80 who seek personal truth and greater vision for their journey in life. Here is a CONFIDENTIAL DESCRIPTION of the book: Every day covert opposition is working to sabotage the story of our lives—and it’s worked quite well. Countless captives are unaware of invisible prison bars hindering their true potential. Even people of faith remain trapped by spiritual and emotional chaos, dying slow deaths within their status quo. Yet Jesus came to rescue us—not only from the eternal penalty of sin, but also from its confining power day-to-day. Set Free to Thrive leads your soul on a powerful journey to personal freedom and clarity, through a call for authenticity in the way you view yourself, God and others.
What's your vision?
I need 1 non-fiction book cover designed. This project has the potential for a follow-up paid project as well, a study guide workbook. On the front cover I need the title in the middle, using the largest font: Set Free to Thrive. The author name should be underneath the title: Kaye M. Carter. The subtitle (Exceeding Life Beyond This World of Chaos) can be either at the top of the book cover or beneath the title but about the author’s name…use your creative discretion. This book cover will come in 2 versions: paperback 5.5 x 8.5 inches (per Create Space specs) and hardcover case laminate plus softcover 5.5 x 8.5 inches (per Ingram publishing specs). Their websites have the correct dimensions, bleed, etc… I have attached a document with some images of covers and color schemes that I like for one reason or another. I made notes about each and offered a few other ideas. I do NOT want any caricature/cartoonish drawings, nor do I want the overused image of a person looking into the sky with arms raised up high or a person jumping/climbing a mountain, etc...I am looking for something distinctive that will symbolically connect to our hearts. The back cover will have text. I will supply the text when deciding on finalists. Also, the back cover and spine could bleed over the design from the front to create the feel of one continuous image on front to back…again…all about your creative discretion.
I look forward to your creativity with the design but share the attached ideas just in terms of a potential general direction. (None of the pictures should be used but I share them as ideas for inspiration with what I like, or what caught my eye. IF you choose to use stock photos, it’s best that they are free or inexpensive because I don’t want to pay high royalties for the books sold. PLEASE feel free to use your creativity and surprise me. Your talent in graphic design undoubtedly lends itself to creative visual representation of written words. I've also attached the publisher's logo. (Small to be placed at bottom to be read when book is upright & larger one on back cover). I'll supply the ISBN barcode and small headshot photo (to be included with the bio portion of the back cover text) when moving to the finalist round.
