paul f6j got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Design a captivating (e)Book cover for "Making Money In Your PJs."
Check out paul f6j's Book cover contest…
My book "Making Money In Your PJs, freelancing for voice-overs and other solopreneurs," is aimed at voice actors and others who are self-employed. It looks at freelancing through the lens of a voice actor and answers questions such as: - Should you turn your hobby into a profession - How to promote your business - How to turn visitors into clients - How to put a price on your services - How to make sure you get paid - What to do when business is slow - How to stand out among colleagues Although voice actors are my main target audience, the information is relevant to other solopreneurs such as graphic designers, photographers and copywriters.
What's your vision?
I'm looking for an eye-catching book cover that can be used for an eBook as well as for a print book. Most books about voice acting have very boring, bland covers, and feature the ubiquitous microphone or mouth. I'd like to move away from that cliché. It's okay to use the image of a microphone, as long as it doesn't dominate the page. The cover should give those interested the idea that this is going to be a fun read and that the book is packed with practical information. I'd prefer the more-is-less approach. Please take a look at the color scheme of my website www.nethervoice.com. You'll see that orange, black and gray are the main colors. You'll also see picture of me with tulips. I like the whimsicality of the image. If that inspires you, feel free to draw on that, without copying it.
As the title suggests, this book is informative as well as entertaining. There's a lot of humor in it, and that needs to come across, without the design becoming too childish. The attached file of me holding a bouquet of tulips is for the back of the book only. It's the author picture. People who aren't familiar with my website/personal brand, aren't going to make a connection between voice-overs/freelancing and a strange man with orange flowers on the cover.
