Another amazing design from B-Ro.
We were able to work out a design style and focus really easily, and licarto responded promptly and communicated well as we went through the iterations. We are rapt with the result.

What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
I am seeking a new cover for my book: Dragon Badge (The Son of a Dragonslayer: Book One) - I want something like the genre of Jim Butcher's the Dresden Files. A physical and action oriented police officer (maybe a cross between Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) and Wolverine) on a rough city street with a magic portal in the background -- kind of far in the background so that future books can show it nearer in perspective. Hand gun drawn (aimed or at low ready position), looking to help his partner or someone unseen. MAYBE: blue-purple eyes. MAYBE: Dragon, demon, or hellhound in the mist of the magic portal. Original art strongly preferred. MUST NOT LOOK LIKE A ROMANCE OR SIMILAR GENRE. Must not look like Young Adult fiction. The target audience is adults who enjoyed Harry Potter but are currently reading a Michael Connelly thriller. I would like the design to be powerful and elegant when viewed as a thumbnail size. A large Police badge in background (faded / transparent) might help to identify genre. If magical runes (glowing) are used in the design, they should be aimed at the character rather than be something he is using, because the protagonist is not an actual magic user in this book, but a descendant of magic. (Note: the second book in the series involves a dragon attack, so if I do a second contest for the next book, there will be a lot more dragon in the design.)
Original art preferred. If stock art is used, it need to be very well handled. Must NOT look like romance genre or YA.
