This is a fantasy adventure novel. Fiction.
What's your vision?
This is a fantasy novel, the title of which is "The Heir of Katan" with a subtitle of "Book One of the El'seliek." A rendering of the attached image should be included at the top of the spine and somewhere on the cover. The image is NOT high definition enough to be included in its current form. Your interpretation of the image is welcome. The back layout should contain space for the write-up (you will not have to provide this; I will super-impose this information in the future). Above the title on the front cover should include the author's name, thus the correct cover title would be: "Keith C Bradbury's/The Heir of Katan/Book One of the El'seliek." with "The Heir of Katan" being the largest of the three lines. The Prologue and the first three chapters of the book are located here: http://www.whona.com/Chapter2.html The winner of this competition will be the person who best captures the feel of at least one of the scenes or themes of the opening chapters. You should have some familiarity with fantasy novel art prior to submission. Absolutely no anime, manga, or cartoon-style artwork. Here is the official back cover blurb (without any italics or bold, so pay attention to correct formatting): Thrust into a destiny he did not choose; torn by a love he could not have. Nathan Keltan grew up dreaming of being more than every other common youth he encountered in his small village of Terrenton. Little did he know, his life had a purpose. But the prophecy that guided his life would tear him from everything he ever cared about and throw him headfirst into a battle with the greatest evil the world would ever know. The Heir of Katan is the first book in the El'seliek, a series of novels that tell the story of the descendants of Katan, a family touched by prophecy and destined to change the world. About the AuthorKeith C Bradbury lives in Indianapolis, Indiana with his wife and two children. He is co-owner, with his wife Jany, of Who North America, one of the largest retailers of Doctor Who products in the USA. The El'seliek is a pet project that Keith has worked on for nearly thirty years, unwilling to publish it until he was certain the story was completed to his satisfaction.
300 dpi is the absolute minimum for printed work. The cover should include both the front, back and spine. Sizes are as follows: back and front are 5" width each. Spine is 1" width. Height is 8" READ THIS RULE: The Icon may not be more than 2 inches on the cover and must not use the image I provided (it is low quality) and should NOT be the center of attention. It should be incorporated at the top of the spine as well. I included a cover of the Atari 2600 game I created (not to be used on the cover design, but as an illustration of Fantasy art that I like). While this story does not contain a dragon, let it fuel your imagination. The Stone of Memory: This (3rd image) is the stone in the pommel of the sword. The book description says it is held in place by four talons that resemble an eagle's claw.
