I’m releasing a first-in-series paranormal fantasy/vampire novel called “Night School” It is subtitled “Book 1: Vampire Awakening.” The cover needs to be something that will pop in the Amazon kindle store as a thumbnail as well as actual size. The book will start as an ebook but will shortly be released as a paperback through createspace, so electronic and print versions of the cover will be necessary. I would require the finished photoshop project file, along with final images with and without the text (title and author).
People who see the cover should feel that it will take them on a thrill ride with characters that they’ll care about.
It’s very important that the book cover pop out of the page when viewed in thumbnail form on Amazon. It should catch the eye of the paranormal/vampire reader, and make them interested and engaged.
Quiet night school teacher Norman Bernard thinks he’s the last vampire on earth. But when vampires from his past, long thought dead, start showing up in his classroom, he must flee with a group of his students. His flight takes him and his young students through the sewers and other derelict places of the city. Will he succeed in destroying his vicious vampire enemies or will he and his students be consumed by their evil?
More Book Description:
Norman Bernard, is a 30-year-old teacher in an alternative high school for the toughest inner city students. He is actually 164, having been changed to a vampire during the civil war era. He doesn’t like to take sides in conflict but is extremely protective of his students.
The students are the toughest the city has and Night School is their last chance. Norman, being a vampire, has a very good track record with them.
A good portion of the story takes place in the sewer system under the city. He flees with seven of his students to avoid being killed by his nemesis, Skeete Daniels, a vampire he thought to be dead. Underground, he is sought out by a group of friendly vampires who hide in old portions of the sewers. They want to enlist him to help destroy Skeete, who has been gradually picking off their members. Norman concludes that he must choose sides and destroy Skeete in order to keep his students safe.
There is a symbol that pops up in this book. It becomes more prominent in Books 2 and 3. It is a five pointed star with an eye in the center. It is the symbol of a secret society of watchers who keep tabs on the vampires and intervene from time to time. The members of this society wear the symbol on the end of a chain necklace around their necks. The symbol should appear subtly on the cover, not prominently.

I am not wed to a particular idea for the cover. I’m pretty bad at this stuff actually. Here are some thoughts…
Important elements that may factor into the cover. Norman is very protective of his students. The cover should reflect this. He and the students spend much time underground in the sewers and Norman frequently has to fight other vampires to protect them. He is powerful, but his mortal students are relatively weak and they grow to trust and depend on him throughout the novel.
