rnfrost s got their new book cover by running a design contest:
Real Estate Masterwork Aerial Photography Retrospective
Check out rnfrost s's Book cover contest…
The contest is to design the book cover, spine and back cover of the initial non-fiction book of a series of aerial photography retrospectives of real estate masterwork developments in southern California selected by the authors. The target is for at least 15 books but could easily be more. The aerial images are from one of the author’s private collection. Neither of the authors is aware of any series of books ever on this subject or by this means, so it is believed there will be great interest. Many of the pictures have never been seen before by anyone in public include the developers of the properties. The target publication date is on or before October 1, 2015. All the photos have been selected and the pages are being laid out now! This book will be first class, high quality, professional and not cutesy. Simply sophistication like the simple black dress. The majority of the readers will be mature adults, but it is anticipated that the content will also lend itself to the 25 to 35 year old market as well.
What's your vision?
We desire a very distinctive memorable cover design and are anxious to meet and work with that designer that has the ‘eye’ for this assignment. The books will be self-published softcover through Amazon’s CreateSpace and also digital via Kindle, so the cover will need to work for both. The book layout will be 8 ½” x 11” in landscape position. The estimated page count is 75 of which 65 will be either black & white or color high quality aerial photos printed full bleed with comments on each picture in a space of approximately 2”’ below each fill page width picture. The picture depict the first real estate Masterwork, The Irvine Company’s Newport Center/Fashion Island development located in Newport Beach, California, selected by the authors. The pictures in the book cover the property starting in 1953 thru 2015. There is at least one picture per year showing the evolution of the development. This book will be first class, high quality, professional and not cutesy. Simply sophistication like the simple black dress. The majority of the readers will be mature adults, but it is anticipated that the content will also lend itself to the 25 to 35 year old market as well. The authors desire the book cover (and back?) to somehow incorporate two pictures that are included with this information: The black and white picture of the development in 1966 and the color picture of the development in 2015. The authors are totally open to suggestions on font styles and sizes. The authors are totally open to suggestions on cover layout, colors and design. Enclosed in a sample layout of the cover of the proposed title and subtitle of the book for the creators use and guidance. We don’t know exactly what we are looking for but will certainly recognize it when we see it! Also enclosed are About the Authors and a picture of each author for the back cover.
We are excited to review your design and suggestions for the initial books cover.

This is our second design project with Sigit and we could not have been more pleased. He works very diligently and with great interest and desire to complete the job as the client specified.
He has an "eye" for this work and should be given the opportunity to try out for any job. You will not be disappointed!

Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
