Douglas, and Dr. Dain Heer Graphics on the spine: ACP spine logo Text on the back: People tend to function from the point of view that there is something wrong with these children because they don’t learn the way the rest of us do. The reality is that they pick things up in a totally different manner. We need to step up and find out how they learn, not try to teach them using methods that might have worked for us but definitely don’t work for them. What if they could be seen as who they are, not as who they aren’t? What could that change? About the authors: Anne Maxwell, LCSW, RPT-S, is a child and play and family therapist, and an Access Consciousness® facilitator with over 20 years of experience working with children of all ages and backgrounds, who have been given all kinds of diagnoses. Anne teaches children and parents to tap into and recognize their own abilities and knowing, and to acknowledge that different is simply different; not right, not wrong. As a result, healing and change are so much easier, more effective, more fun and faster! Gary Douglas is a best-selling author, international speaker and a sought-after facilitator who inspires people to see different possibilities and to “know what they know.” He empowers people to know that they are the source for creating the change they desire and for creating a life that goes beyond the limitations of popular beliefs and conditioning. Gary pioneered a set of transformational life changing tools and processes known as Access Consciousness® 25 years ago. His work has spread to 50 countries, with 2,000 trained facilitators worldwide. Simple but effective, these tools facilitate people of all ages and backgrounds to help remove limitations holding them back from a full life. Dr Dain Heer is an international speaker, author and facilitator of advanced workshops worldwide. He invites and inspires people to more consciousness from total allowance, caring, humor and a phenomenal knowing. He is the co-creator of Access Consciousness. He has a completely different approach to healing by teaching people to tap into and recognize their own abilities and knowing. ~~ Graphics on the back: Access Consciousness Publishing logo Photos of authors Description of Target Audience: Target audience is parents and teachers and anyone who works with or has or is related to or knows kids who have been labeled with ADD, ADHD, OCD and autism. This audience is likely to be looking for something different from what is traditionally believed and taught about these kids. Target audience is likely to be a little “outside the box”! Dominant color or color scheme: Kids on the spectrum can be extremely sensitive to colors, so please use soft colors – nothing intense. NO reds, (soft rose colors or soft pinks ok), no primary/kindergarten – type colors, no really dark colors. Would like the color scheme to be soft – light blues, soft turquoise, melon colors, soft greens. Black only for outlining shapes – not for color. If yellow is used, not too cheerful or intense. Description of desired cover design: Hopeful, different, no meanness Kids on the spectrum are very different, and, are labeled as such. I would like to cover to convey the energy that different is simply different … not good, not bad, not right, not wrong … just different. These kids are magical and amazing! Also, convey the energy of hopefulness … that they are other possibilities available. Notes: Interior design – nothing rigid or stark. I would like it to be soft, an invitation, easy on the eyes, a pleasure to open up the book and to read it. Simple, not complicated.
