I have started a basic website at http://www.remaginative.com.
"The future isn't what is used to be". In past decades, you saw unbridled optimism about the future. The World's Fairs. Jules Verne and HG Wells. Walt Disney. These people helped us to dream big and to be optimistic about our shared future.
Indeed, we as human society have overcome major challenges in recent decades. Reducing infant mortality, eradicating small pox, increasing food production 300x, reducing deforestation in the Amazon by 70%, and reducing incidence of war. Among many others.
But you get the sense that we are fearful of the future now. Environmental degradation and increasing income inequality combine with the 24 news cycle to have us all anxious and worried about the future. This isn't going to help us solve the problems.
We need to restore optimism in the future. Indeed, we face many challenges in the areas of income equality, food, forests, water, energy, climate and cities. We aim to reach people who want to restore their communities, their economies, their buildings, their downtown, their forests, their food systems, their energy usage, their energy sources, their parks, their water ways, their culture, their investments, their optimism, their hope, their future. We will share stories of successful efforts. We will share stories of struggle. We will support each other. We will connect. We will host online and in-person events and setup mentoring relationships. We want to inspire and help create the world we want.
