Community & Non-Profit
Our mission is to help middle school youth across Los Angeles to dream big, believe in themselves, and achieve brighter futures! We do this by utilizing a unique team mentoring approach, which makes the middle school years count, three mentors at a time. We have served 20,000 youth since our inception, and are celebrating our 20th anniversary this year. Since the vast majority of our youth live below the poverty line, we offer our services free-of-charge to schools and families. Our programs are primarily funded through a charity 'gala' dinner each year, for which this invitation would be used.
What's your vision?
We would like a design for the cover of our gala dinner invitation. From that file, we can design the rest of the invite (mostly text-based) but would like some art to build off of. To avoid increased postage costs, we would prefer the design fit within a typical 5"x7" invitation card (either vertical or horizontal design is OK, vertical slightly preferred but open to both options). The design will likely also be scaled down for the RSVP card, which is 4 1/8"x5.5". A few basic facts: - Organization Name: Los Angeles Team Mentoring - Event Name: 14th Annual Soiree - Honoree Name/Organization--To be determined, but this would usually be on the cover (you can leave a space) - Date--To be determined, but would usually be on the cover - Design elements: - Sometimes designers have included photos of youth, but not always - Logo can be included if desired, but not necessary - Would like to have some mention on the front of the fact that we are celebrating our 20th anniversary "in business" - We are considering a Black and White ball, particularly if a design is especially eye-catching or interesting, but we are not limited to only black and white designs - The design should be eye-catching and uplifting. Also appreciate modern/graphic styles and something that captures the fun spirit of the evening. Audience: This is a high-end event held at the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire hotel. Tickets range from $300-$2500 per seat ($25,000 table for 10), and about 500 people attend. Most of them are businesspeople in the Los Angeles area, within the age range of 40-60. The design should reflect a classy event but not overly stuffy or childish (even though we serve kids). (updated as of 8/15: Not sure if maybe our reference to "classy" was the right descriptor. The event is a 'classy' event but it is not black tie, it's more California chic and casual, and the invite should reflect that "fun" feel. We also appreciate a modern/graphic aesthetic.) I'm attaching a few things that may be helpful: "Soiree Invitation Only"--our 2011 invite, the left hand side of this jpg was the front cover (right hand side was the inside cover) "Final Invitation"--our 2010 invite, the right hand side of this pdf was the cover (left hand side was the back cover)--(updated as of 8/15: we do like this invite, but this was specifically designed for our honoree, BCBG, and they wanted a very specific look and feel) "LATM Logo Master"--our organization logo *****Updated to Add, Based on Submissions as of 8/15/12*********** "Paying Invitation for Website"--an invite to a different event we held, which reflects more of a modern/graphic look that we like. *****Updated to Add, Based on Submissions as of 8/15/12*********** I've also added a few photos of our youth which may be used in the design, and am uploading a copy of our stationery (Doc242), which has our puzzle motif as a watermark in the background--it would be great if someone wants to experiment utilizing the puzzle motif in their design! I do not have a copy of the file but you may be able to grab the puzzle pieces from the LATM logo file. The pieces are usually a light and dark green watermark. ***Updated on August 20 to add****I uploaded a new pdf, Doc246, which is an interesting layout I came across this weekend. I think this could be interesting done over with some of the mentoring words that being used in some of the designs (enrich, empower, guide, inspire, etc.) as well as the "Celebrating 20 Years" information for the event.
Thank you for considering our project! As a non-profit, we often do not have the ability to obtain great designs due to a limited budget (none!) for design. Though we know your time and efforts are worth so much more, thank you for helping us to put together a beautiful, inspiring, and professional design to help us highlight our 20 years of service in Los Angeles.
