The service is an automated barter service (Abe). People post what they have and then click what they want. The software algorithm, we're calling our unicorn (hence Abecorn), connects the network of people so everyone gets what they want. It then directs all involved in the trade to a time/location to meetup and exchange their stuff. We've started off targeting video/roleplaying/board gamers. Our target audience has been the 18-30 crowd, but our hope would be to move beyond that eventually.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We were thinking something of a wizened unicorn-like full bodied creature named Abe. Something a user may want to be interactive with, more casual than cute. It doesn't need to have a resemblance to Abe Lincoln. Less standard fantasy or "My Little Pony" style unicorn, unless you can make it more memorable. Out of the box thinking is preferred, for example : a narwhal with legs or animal-like things with a uni horn.
