We would like an info graphic that help clarify and educate marketing and business professionals when and what video services make sense for them. This is helping to clarify all the confusion of what prices should cost for video and why you hire onn company over another. TONE: This can be corky but we want it to be visually appealing and educational. Would love to be able to host it on website: http://www.powertenproductions.com . DOES NOT NEED TO BE IN SAME STYLE
Data to include in the infographic
We want people to better understand the difference between three main categories: 1) A Videographer 2) Film Production Company 3) Advertising Company Below each of the three companies we want the sub categories to be: Summary, Price range, What Can Drive Up Cost, What They Do Well, When to Use, What they Miss. EXACT DETAILS HERE: Videographer Summary: Whether a college student or a small professional team, these guys do it all. Shoot, edit, light, mic and deliver final product. Price Range: A Free Meal-$15,000 What Can Drive Up Cost: Using multiple personal and cameras, multiple shooting days and multiple rough cuts desired by client. What They Do Well: With the rise of HD technology, video gear getting drastically cheaper and the ability to upload video online for free via Youtube, these guys are able to provide quality content at minimum price. They can usually turn around projects within a few weeks and if you need a live event filmed they are able to record the moment with minimum interference. When to Use: Videographers have always existed in the wedding realm, but now with emerging technology and company needs for more content many have migrated over to the marketing world. Companies should use these companies when they require video content be created but care more about cost over quality and have a very fast timeline. Because most videographers own gear and part of company they work for, they can cut their prices drastically compared to the Film Production Company or Ad Agency. If you are a bootstrapped startup or small business this would be the best option for you. What They Miss: Because videographers do a lot of things, they are usually only alright or good at different elements of film versus being GREAT at each. Since they also have limited crews and most equipment used will be what the company owns, the client is also limited to what final products they can ask for. Film Production Company Summary: Companies that specialize in creating quality video content for any medium. Price Range: $15,000-$12,000,000 What Can Drive Up Cost: Big name talent (actor, director, cinematographer...) Multiple shooting days, multiple shooting locations, tons of crew personal needed, lots of graphics or visual effects required. What They Do Well: Film production companies specialize in creating video content and often can scale depending on video needs. Most have connections with talented non union crew members as well as the same crew you'd see on a Hollywood feature film. Film Production companies should provide full creative integration from initial pitching of concepts to delivery of video ready for online, television or other medium viewing. Because they are flexible and most crew are hired freelance, film production companies can custom taylor the right crew for every client so that final video is exactly what works best for company. When to Use: Most film production companies will take a small overhead and be looking to hire at least 10 people to work full time on project. Because of this companies need to have a solid budget and be willing to invest in success of films and quality needs to be a concern. Recommend usually a company have at least a first round of seed funding under their belt before making such an investment. What they Miss: Film production companies will be more expensive then a videographer and often cannot over their services below a five figure price tag. Since film companies only specialize in creating the films, most cannot offer distribution services or media buying that advertisement companies can offer. Also if companies want the messaging to flow into other mediums like radio, website development or product labels film production companies cannot help. Advertising Agency Summary: A company that specializes in pushing a companies messaging through any medium available in the world. Price rang: $500,000-Unlimited What Can Drive Up Cost: How many different mediums are you creating, how large is the industry, what channels are you looking to buy media and what time of day, named talent attached to product and how many pieces of content need to be created. What They Do Well: There is a perfect ad agency with any company that can afford them. With teams of some of the most creative people they will find ways to sell your brand you may have never dreamed of. They will help strategize how your brand strategy and messaging will play in any medium from writing, billboards, films and radio and the sky is the limit if you have the money to match. When to Use: Company who needs to push a brand image to a large audience across a large amount of mediums. Where They Miss: Because ad agencies have often have huge overhead costs, a huge percentage of each budget does not go to actually creating content or buying time. Some agencies will also not allocate full resources to smaller clients and focus instead on the larger clients they have in their portfolio.
Elements to include in the infographic
We want this to visually look cool. We want the tone to ideally blend with our website as in if we featured it on a page it would not be starkly out of place (http://www.powertenproductions.com). We also want this to be a stand alone image people could see outside of any context to us or our website and it look visually cool enough they read on. Finally we'd love characters for each of the three kinds of video people.
Would love to have our logo featured somewhere on the document. Where and how prominent is up to the designer. Some designers have asked for examples of types of infographics we like. Below please find a few examples of what we like. The things we like about each of these is that their is images as the center focus and text is supplementing the images. We also like a little of the corky feel (we realize this does not match our website or logo so maybe this makes no sense with our notes above to use). We also like the variety of colors and blend of everything.
