We’re introducing a line of gardening soils. As a new entry in this category, we want to project an organic, hand-crafted, locally-owned vibe rich in heritage. In short, we want to look like we’ve been at this for generations.
It’s important to remember the packages sporting this design will be “speaking” to gardeners—a cohort that prizes authenticity, grounded values, and love of earth. The majority of the customer base is mature, leaning female, with a love for growing things.
This is a crowded field. We’re targeting the premium segment, but don’t want to seem snooty.
We have in mind a logo that features the founding husband and wife “caricaturized” in the style of Grant Wood’s American Gothic, encircled or badged with logo type of Heirloom Soils of Texas. This logo type would need to allow flexibility for use without the image while still evoking the same sense of heritage.
While we want to see your vision of the design, we’d prefer a color palate similar to that of Wood’s American Gothic. Keeping true to that style would likely guide font choice and layout.
