Our dance music channel needs a new logo!

DT / DanceTrippin

We produce dance music content for web and TV broadcast. Our core content is live recorded dj sets from clubs and festivals. Our target audience is 18-35, mostly male, electronic dance music fans from around the world

Historically we've used a lot of purple (check the mauve/purple accents on our website). Im open to designer suggestions but the main use of this logo will see it used in ways in which the shape & outline is more important than the color (for example when used as a watermark / overlay over moving video)

Our brand name is "DanceTrippin" and to date has used that word along with a circular icon of a dancing girl. But we've found that the word logo is not ideal... although the LED style font matches nightlife, it does not always work well because the dots are hard to make out when used in printed applications or as a corner overlay on video. Its also a problem that the word is too long and narrow when printed at small sizes, the dimensions are not ideal.

Therefore in order to address these problems we are looking to revise our visual branding by creating two variations of the word logo: "DanceTrippin" and "DT". DanceTrippin is still the main brand identity, but we will start to use "DT" as a placeholder, much in the same way that Music Television started using the abbreviation MTV which became synonymous with the brand.

We would also like to see some new ideas for the icon. That could be a new version of the dancing girl icon or something completely different and abstract, up to your discretion.

BUT PLEASE NOTE: THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENTS FOR US ARE "DT" and "DanceTrippin" done in matching and complimentary styles.

I've attached an example of our current logo, and also attached a sketch which shows how the new masthead designs (for "DanceTrippin" and "DT") should be identical except for one having more letters than the other and obviously being longer. Please also keep in mind that its very important for the new logos to be clearly visible as an overlay on moving video. Thanks and good luck!
