How miacseymour started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
Collective Motherhood Project
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
The Collective Motherhood Project is the idea that in our modern world, we have a lot of information but often lack true connection. Many of us live far away from extended family. As a result, we are one another’s best resources, a kind of global tribe that offers the best advice possible, the words of our own experiences. Our intention with the book series (and possibly more in the future) is to empower women (and men, all parents and soon to be parents) and help them prepare for birth and parenthood (focusing on the experience of the parents not focused on child development) by offering diverse and realistic stories. We collect stories (through interviews) and rewrite the stories and publish collections in books.
We hope for a logo that can represent empowerment through connection- woven stories that connect and support, as well as motherhood (parenthood). Soft while honest, bold and strong.
Target audience: mothers, fathers, all parents and soon to be parents- most likely women will be the primary audience
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Community & Non-Profit
What colors do you want to see in your design?
Other color requirements
We originally thought simple black/white/greys, however, we are interested in the color suggestions offered by the designers. We would like a simple, clear logo without multiple colors and one that can be printed nicely in color or black and white (shades of grey)
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
I do not like the font. I like the organic lines
I like the simple, straight forward image connected to the name.I do not like the font
I like the modern approach and the tall rather than long desing
I like the modern sophisticated font and simple design
do not like the flowery lettering- but I like the white words inside the colored circle, and the unclean lines - like a wax stamp.
we are drawn to circles as a metaphor for the business. I like the simple, bold image and, unclean lines. I like the black and white but worry about how this would look on a white background such as a book cover
clear and easy to read
I like the simple playful design above the company name
We think our primary audience will be women, we want to look at Motherhood in a broader sense and not exclude men through an overly feminine logo (no pregnant belly logos please). Ideas that we have initially been drawn to include: circle, symbolism of stories woven together, and phases (perhaps moon phases without seeming to spiritual, new age -symbolism of the phases of parenthood). We like the idea of soft but striking. We are open to CMP being part of the logo as well as the full name Collective Motherhood Project.
