How lisacalderone started their logo design journey
Who are you known as?
I Come From The World
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
I am looking for a cleverly illustrated logo for a new website, IComeFromTheWorld.com, featuring the world (this Earth) through the lens of humanity. I am a writer who is very visual so am attracted to logos where the lettering and graphics are fully integrated.
We are all here on Earth by happenstance of birth. The message should convey at-a-glance that this website is a safe space and place for people around the world to gather on topics that touch us all in safe & positive ways - laughter, food, music, nature - and in time, as the community grows, on larger issues like Humanity, Sustainability, and the Global Economy.
I am open to all types of interpretations of what it means to "Come From The World" but the tone must be positive and world-affirming.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Community & Non-Profit
What colors do you want to see in your design?
Other color requirements
Yes - please use an array of earth tone colors, predominantly green but also crimson, browns, blues, and oranges would work (between 2-4 colors) ... think lush rain forests and the Grand Canyon and all the beauty of nature right outside your window wherever you are in this world. I will use the colors of the logo to design the website, so choice will be important but we can tweak later...

Fabulous example of turning a letter into an original graphic and picking a font that works in spirit with all
example of human silhouettes in an "O" or a globe-like symbol...
Here's a nice array of colors - please consider drawing from this wheel. Thank you!
Deeper colors with more texture...
This site can go in many directions, but I am hoping to steer it toward what "we" (humanity) have in common - the bigger picture that binds us together, here and now, on this one Earth of ours. To build both content and community, we will hold monthly contests for the first year (2017) on a series of topics, with a yet-to-be-determined contest prize each month. Calls for Submission will always include either a photo, video, or drawing with a story behind it, and only top entries will be published. I also have the *.org domain, so if this catches on, the concept can stretch in myriad ways.
