**FOR FINAL ROUND, please be sure to consider points that have stars. These are priority considerations for our choice. See below:**
**Of the words "Citizen Science Day" if any are thematically connected in the design it should be "Citizen Science" rather than "Science Day"
**People and science mixed together… iconic science images can do this, but stay away from exhausted tropes of science (table of elements, beakers, flasks, etc).
In the logo design create approachable complexity— still about science, but make it a logo that someone could see from afar and identify, playing off of well established symbols in science.
In the design have some dimension, no gradients, keep the font clean (don’t get too swoopy), stay away from complex figures (people or animals drawn in extreme detail).
Sites will use this logo to advertise their activities, therefore a white label version of the logo (that would allow sites to add their own logo) would be helpful
Key themes of CitSciDay are:
- showcasing citizen science opportunities
- connecting people
- celebrating scientific and societal impacts
Some words that describe or relate to citizen science are: open science, community, democratization of science, civic science, public engagement, collaboration, people-powered, participatory science, co-production of knowledge.
Citizen science is real science. it's not "just" education/fun, although that can/should be a big part of why people get involved.
Citizen science is very diverse, but past logos that have tried to visually represent many different disciplines have gotten messy, or look scattered (see header bar at CitizenScience.org).
