Who are you known as?
Mercury Tragedy Project (50th Anniversary) I think the 50th Anniversary "notation" should appear under the logomark rather than being incorporated into the actual design. I am inclined to think that a design with a university-style shield (perhaps design elements in quadrants on the shield) might be impactful

The 50th Anniversary Mercury Tragedy Project (2020) will (i) document the devastating health, economic and human rights impacts of mercury pollution in the English Wabigoon River System (Ontario, Canada), (ii) pay tribute to early thought leaders who sought to shed light on the tragedy (iii) issue a call to action to prevent future environmental tragedies. The Mercury Tragedy Project will be launched in Canada to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day
Target Audience: Environmentalists, Government Officials, Media, Museum Directors and Museum-Goers, Native Ojibway People, Health Organizations, Human Rights Organizations

Mercury pollution (the tragedy) occurred in the English Wabigoon River System in NE Ontario, Canada. While I don't want a rustic (i.e browns & greens) look & feel, thought should be given that the impact was on remote towns and 2 Ojibway reservations, each located 60 miles approx from the nearest town.
