Help our church step into modern minimalism!

We are lutheran church that seeking to reach out and share Jesus with the ever-changing community of the northern Virginia / Washington D.C. area. Our target is to reach out to all generations, as well as the many and various cultural backgrounds of our area.
Other color requirements
The cross and accompanying structure (reredos) above our altar is the defining visual characteristic of our worship space, and is the basis for our current logo. We would like to retain the reference to this fantastic visual feature, while simplifying and modernizing our logo and branding. I am images of our current logo, as well as a sketch and an image of the chancel cross that is our identifying visual feature. We are seeking a logo that is simple, clean, and modern. We want something that can be used easily in both digital and print media. The main color for our branding is navy blue (003478), but it would be nice to have the logo in some neutrals, especially in white, so that it can be used in any color context; so that the logo won't clash with other colors. Text wise: we're more inclined towards a sans serif font. Also, just "Prince of Peace" is fine for text. We want to move away from having our name be long and cluttered. We are looking for something that more replicates the reredos surrounding our cross than any typographic allusions or references to the themes of royalty. After getting some feedback from my team, if you have ideas that contain more reference to the current logo, especially the expansive structure behind the cross, we would like to see that.
