We have been using the logo attached, however the type and colors are not what we are looking for. Board members expressed liking the two lines which make the outline of a "house." First and foremost the organization provides housing for young lgbtq people in DC. We are already an established organization in our community, recently going through a reorganization, formed a new board and starting over with branding, etc. Our website is a wash and will be remade based on the logo/colors which we choose. You could check out out on facebook, however:
It is also important to note that our clientele is primarily African-American, and members of the board would like to see that reflected in the logo if possible, and at the same time not isolating the organization.
We recently went through a branding exercise/conversation and some of the words we came up with to describe the WAF are: safe, inclusive, welcoming, warm, youth, diverse, resilient, transforming, empowering, wholistic, home, education, therapeutic, healing, stable, life skills, daily life, routine, caring, friendship, community, growth, nurturing, financially secure, self-sufficient.
Some colors we came up with to relate to those words are: burgundy, blue, yellow, orange, green, purple and brown. Also, NOT pink. And a subtle strip of the pride rainbow incorporated along some line would be a good touch - but we don't want a logo that is all gay pride flag.
Some images and activites that remind us of the WAF are: house, dinner, coming in the front door, fireplace, a dog, homework, fun activities, video games, friendship, family, neighborhood, community.
We currently have one house with 8 beds available and a waiting list of 20-30 youth. We are working with the city exploring options for opening a second house at this time, and will likely expand to house #2 this year.
I hope this is helpful.
