DEAD HORIZON is a 400 page horror novel about zombies! Gritty, realistic, brutal, serious, unflinching, scary, intense. NOT a comedy. It needs a cinematic logo that conveys the gravitas and weight of the material. Inspiration came from The Walking Dead. American Horror Story, and Stephen King's work. Think movie poster and modern TV.
Nothing campy. Nothing retro. Modern and gritty.
Mass appeal to men and women from 15 to 55: the general American horror loving audience.
Dead Horizon is a story about heroes and cowards, good and bad, armies and individuals. It's an epic of horrific proportion, spanning both coasts. On the morning of Halloween the Chrysler building in downtown Manhattan is obliterated by an unknown object falling from the skies. As the strange orange smoke clears, police, firefighters, and news teams are the first to be welcomed into a new world: where the dead rise to eat the living.
The plague spreads to Los Angeles. Here a ragtag team assembles by happenstance: an out of work actor, his successful brother, a lonely but determined girl from eastern Europe, and an enigmatic young man with a secret as deadly as the weapons he carries. Hopelessly, they join forces in a frantic attempt to leave Los Angeles and find safety, before they too join the ever growing ranks of the undead.
In New York, a crazed general commands a makeshift army of man and machine. Their orders are simple: enter Manhattan and reclaim the city! Take it back from the rotting hands of the dead, now numbering in the millions.
