Lvis Mejía is a Mexican interdisciplinary artist based in Berlin. His oeuvre of conceptual works reflects multiple forms of expression and spans various installations, films, audio-visual performances, electroacoustic music as well as writing. It is the diversity of his artistic outcome that brought him to different contexts such as dOCUMENTA 13, Transmediale Berlin, Centre Pompidou, MUTEK Montréal, ICA London, Secret Solstice, International Image Festival and MUAC Mexico. Lvis Mejía's typical target group is mainly composed of music academia, sound art conaisseurs and experimental music enthusiasts. With this project, Mejía is looking for a logo to be included into the artwork of his 6th album, called Segments. Conceived as an electroacoustic piece for strings and electronics, the material finds part of its conceptual core within the idea of unity being tailored by division. Four compositions ('Segments') comprehend the sequence of the whole procured by a subtile common thread. The (already existing, almost finished) artwork is also divided into 4 independent yet coherent and combined collage alike pieces, meant to be published digitally every second week, one after the other – puzzle style and all together in the end, as well as on vinyl. Lvis Mejía would like you to create a wordmark logo to be integrated into the artwork of the album cover for Segments – please see attachment "Album-cover_Segments", also for the positioning of the logo. To represent the nature of the album which is mix of classic (strings) and e The initial letter of the album title (Segments) should be created as illuminated manuscript (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Illuminated_manuscript#:~:text=An%20illuminated%20manuscript%20is%20a,marginalia)%2C%20and%20miniature%20illustrations.), using a medieval ornament capital letter to represent the classical nature of the used strings instruments. The rest of the logo typeface should be created in a simple and clean way as interpretation of the modern parts of the musical pieces and the album artwork to evoke an interesting balance. The artist's name should be included as slogan in a subtle way with the focus clearly being on the album's title.
