Hope Story is a mid-sized charity (roughly $1.5 million annual revenue) in the midst of significant growth. Our programming philosophy has increasingly focused on working in partnership with the Church in Canada and in the field. Hope Story seeks to strengthen local partnerships, build capacity and sustainability within our overseas field partners, and support locally-led, culturally relevant solutions to meet the needs of children in the context of family and community.
The name "Hope Story" was chosen to reflect the fact that:
· Each child has a story.
· We tell stories to connect Canadians to the world beyond our borders.
· We strive to reflect the big story of Christ’s love and redemption in the world.
First and foremost Hope Story is a Christian organization. The example of Jesus Christ drives us to serve God and others in love, compassion, and humility.
Collaboration and Relationships - Collaboration and teamwork are central to how we work. We partner with churches and local communities to understand needs and develop solutions.
Learning and Teachability - We are committed to lifelong learning amongst our staff, church and field partners.
Transformation - We seek positive transformation in the lives and communities of those we serve. This includes spiritual and relational transformation.
Sustainability – We value movement towards greater local ownership and sustainability of the work in which we are involved. We take a decentralized approach to decision-making and accountability.
Service – Compelled by care for the needs of others, we exist to serve. In our service we desire to inspire servant-leadership.
Stewardship – We manage resources with transparency and accountability.
