Art & Design
FanExtra is a membership area aimed at creatives, designers and digital artists. (http://fanextra.com). It primarily teaches Photoshop, but rather than the basic tools focuses more on creating awe-inspiring and very creative (often fantasy) outcomes. We offer in depth Photoshop tutorials, video courses and will soon offer a forum/community to help teach and inspire creatives, give them feedback etc... Our audience are intermediate users. They know the basic tools they need to produce world class works, but lack artistic direction and experience. We're there to take their work from average to awesome. They are very creative, and on a creative journey. Rather than the audience striving to find a profession in this industry, their main concern at this stage is simply producing an incredible outcome they can be proud of. They geek out over the types of creative work that elicits a 'wow' reaction in the viewer. They care deeply about progressing their work. They are very humble and willing to learn from the 'master's whom they aspire to emulate.
Logo types to explore
I would very much like for the design to work on a white background primarily, but also a black background, and preferably also blue background. The logo should show: 'Bubbling with creativity' (not literal bubbles, but the energy and inspiration associated with a creative moment). The logo should also perhaps abstractly show progression, a journey, growth, improvement etc... It should show a rejection of the boring, mundane elements of design, and an affinity with the more creative freedoms/licenses afford to creative people. It should definitely be very modern/clean, yet creative. For example, it can show an abstract, creative form, but this should be done in the 'vector/vexel' style, clean lines, no grungy/messy edges. IMPORTANT NOTES: Please see attached logoinspiration.jpg file for examples of what I like The logo MUST have the logo icon positioned to the left of the text Preferred to use lowercase text for the logo text *** IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR ALL POTENTIAL ENTRANTS***: I haven't found any logo that's close to what we're looking for yet. To help final entrants, here's a comprehensive list of logos I like and feel are a relevant style. I've given careful feedback for what appeals about each: http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/185281 Very clean, sleek illustration with great use of colors The logo icon is elegant, yet professional. The font choice is professional yet friendly, just the type of thing we're going for. I also prefer a bolder font like this. http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/188671 Some nice gradients and vexel style depth on the logo icon http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/166218 Good use of the rainbow color palette http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/128369 Something a bit different in terms of the logo icon. I like how the shapes are almost like splashes of paint. http://logopond.com/gallery/detail/56224 The icon part of this logo is great stylistically. For our brief it doesn't really capture the 'bubbling with creativity' part so well, or show the creative's journey/improvement. Nice visually though. I hope this helps!

And then… they selected a winner!
Rasyid is an excellent designer; his first design was spot on and required only little adjustment. He immediately understood the briefing and translated it into a design that fits our products and image. He's also been pro-active to provide a number of alternatives during the contest to allow us to choose, and has worked patiently and diligently to make the adjustments. Communications are easy, fast and polite. We continue to work with Rasyid on the brand guide and highly recommend to work with him.
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
