"Never leave a wingman behind."
Community & Non-Profit
The Marine Wingman Foundation was started in 2014 by Marine Aviators who recognized the need to take care of our own. In the past, we have provided for the families of those involved in flying mishaps, combat or otherwise, by ad hoc fundraising, “passing around the hat” in our Ready Rooms, and leaning on other organizations for support. We plan to change that. In addition to helping families defray the costs associated with losing a loved one, The Marine Wingman Foundation will offer merit and needs-based scholarship opportunities to the children of fallen aviators, as well as provide business mentorship for veterans who are seeking a civilian career transition.
Logo types to explore
We want to leave the canvas open to your artistic input. We ask that you center on aviation, and serving missing aviators. We are looking for professional, simple, and powerful styles with strong symbols. Symbols that generally depict our services include parachutes and wings. The sample file I've uploaded includes preliminary sketches I've done. The one on the bottom right reflects most closely the logo. It depicts a parachute holding up the Marine Corps emblem, the Eagle, Globe & Anchor (EGA). It is flanked by wings on both sides. The parachute is stylized into an M, the strings into a W, and the wings into an F, which are the initials of our foundation. The other sample would be a reverse silhouette black and white color scheme. You have the parachute as a symbol of a downed aviator, and then the missing-man formation, which is usually flown in honor of missing aviators. We've also included other logos from similar organizations that we like. Again, we provide these samples simply as examples, but we are open to all creative submissions.
