The firm has 2 principals but want to look like a professional medium size firm while we build clients. I'm looking for a professional look that can also be embroidered on polo shirts but will also look good on a WHITE sheet of paper in black & white. Designer must submit the logo as it would look on a white sheet of paper in black/white and how it would look embroidered on a polo shirt. I have attached several ideas that I have but I'm an engineer, not a graphic designer. If possible, I like hypocycloids (2-D or 3-D) because the symbol looks like a star and indicates that we provide "direction," such as the north star Polaris has provided direction to astronomers and travelers for thousands of years. However, you should be modifying the hypocycloid to fit the logo, either the colors, gradients, shape, etc, I don't want JUST a hypocycloid there with no other modifications to it. If you don't think it fits well with your logo, feel free to leave it off. I also like the shapes/ideas that I have included in the following attachments. I like the idea of something "glowing" at the center of the logo (to indicate an orb or an "oracle" which indicates knowledge and wisdom), but remember that it must be able to be embroidered on a polo shirt - you should know what is and isn't possible to embroider. It should be recognizable from a distance so that's why my green blob probably wouldn't work because the lines are too thin. I'm not opposed to simpler logos with text only, or the AIA one or something including a pillar (like the AIA logo) or including a portion of the Delphi Oracle structure.
If you like the blue shapes I have included, those were made with an excel spreadsheet called hypocycloid-animated which you can find online. The small boxes next to each logo are the values that must be chosen to make that shape. Excel provides ways to modify the colors, line thicknesses, etc.
One more thing, the logo must mean something, each part of the logo must be symbolic of something. Such as, a hypocycloid in the logo looks like a star (the north star Polaris) which indicates that we provide direction. Keep this in mind because we will want an explanation of the symbolism used in your logo. Thank you for competing!
