Merovex got their new logo design by running a design contest:
Redeem the Cringeworthy

Entertainment & The Arts
I write bad speculative fiction (more sci-fi than fantasy). The fiction tends toward military, and I think my target audience is a military or first responder in his 20s-30s; those readers who have a guardian/protector mentality, but hopefully is thoughtful.
Other color requirements
I'd like to explore the following colors: Blues: Knowledge, trust, calm and honesty. Reds: Energy, action, passion and love. Oranges: Creativity, adventure and happiness.
If you are going to use the company name in the logo, use either "Merovex" or "Merovex Press." Not both. My [Amazon] profile points to two of my current self-published works. The writing tends to be a bit more serious than I am personally, and I'm hoping to open up a bit. On the Benjamin (stick in the arse) to Benny (silly) spectrum, I'm just on the Benny side of Ben. I have a current [website] and [logo]. Both are self-designed and cringe-worthy. I'm changing name, logo, etc. as I pivot. I've been progressively recognizing the limits of my visual design skills, though I've not reached the limits of my writing. That's probably a few years out. The logo was intended to suggest writing (pen & ink), a rocket and a ringed-planet. While I picked some color sets, I will say I am not totally wedded to any. I love deep reds, but if that doesn't speak to the brand then I relent. What I really want, and 99d doesn't seem to support, is a logo and a web design that I'll host. I'm a former web developer, use Jekyll/GitHub for managing my site now, so a solid template (using Bootstrap) is all I really need. I've 1-on-1'd in the past. I prefer to build the relationship.
