Sport and Sustainability International (SandSI) leverages the cultural and market influence of sports to promote healthy, sustainable and just communities.
The SandSI has three pillars of work: (1) enhancing events and venue design and operations, (2) influencing procurement by the sports industry and its supply chain, and (3) mobilizing fans and athletes. These three pillars of work are used to promote the three dimensions of sustainability: environmental, economic and social.
The SandSI carries out its mission by inspiring and collaborating with sports federations, leagues, teams, events, venues, governments, sponsors and other sports industry business partners, fans and athletes. The goals of these collaborations are designed to:
Reduce reliance on fossil fuels and promote the use of renewable energy, healthy food, green spaces, waste management (Reduce,Reuse,Recyle) towards circular economy, water efficiency, wildlife conservation, smart mobility, carbon offsetting, safer chemicals and other environmentally preferable practices and initiatives.
Promote fair trade principles in the sports industry, supply chain, environmental intelligent procurement, investments, practices and initiatives.
Foster healthy communities by encouraging diversity and inclusion, cultural exchange, equal opportunities, physical activity and other socially preferable practices and initiatives.
