Preserving, Protecting, and Promoting Small Town America
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are a small incorporated city in the agricultural heart of California's Central Valley. We provide full municipal services to our population of just under 11,000. We are over 100 years old and have retained the quaintness and small town charm that many towns have lost. Our residents strive to preserve and protect that small town charm and identity. The target audience is both residents and visitors.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Community & Non-Profit
What colors do you want to see in your design?
Other color requirements
I'd like to explore the following colors:
Blues: Knowledge, trust, calm and honesty.
Oranges: Creativity, adventure and happiness.
Yellows: Energy, intellect, fun and youth.
To give us an idea of the overall feeling of your brand, let us know which styles you lean towards
Exeter is a conservative small town at the edge of the foothills leading up into Sequoia National Park. The town has an agricultural base - now primarily oranges and other citrus. So there is an agricultural foundation to the community, but the reason that people choose to live and work here is because of the small town feel. Everyone knows everyone. The downtown is a typical 100-year old small town California downtown, but thriving - with gift shops, antique shops, restaurants, etc.
I would like to convey a timeless image. The City Council has expressed interest in concepts I have shown them that are in the genre of 1930's-1940's-1950's travel posters - the timeless art deco travel posters of that era. Fonts and images similar to those used for Disney's Grand Californian Hotel and Yosemite National Park have resonated with them.
I am open to other/all design concepts, but it is important to be timeless, classic/classy, and convey that small town America appeal to visitors and residents alike. We have a very extensive downtown mural gallery - 32 professional murals on the walls throughout the downtown, for which people travel to Exeter as a destination location.
