milos.maricic got their new app design by running a design contest:
App for spontaneous "micro-events"

Community & Non-Profit
People create mini-events (having a coffee, watching a game, or just talking) and attend them. A way to meet new people. Location-based. There are NO NAMES and NO PHOTOS before people actually meet, to eliminate the dating angle and expand the user base beyond the hip Tinder crowd and into all other segments, including the middle aged and (possibly) the elderly, the fastest-growing smartphone use segments.
Clear, flat and minimal. High contrast for easy readability. Three major colors at most, meaning the interface itself can be mostly in one high-contrast color combination. This can even be black and white, or grey and white. Ideally, the app should be simple enough to be usable by someone who's just picked up a smartphone for the first time.
"Nomenal" // sic
[it's all in the specs attached, including the flow, although the specs also contain some superfluous info for the developers]. Users land on the "browse events" page, where they choose an event to attend, or branch off into other screens, such as "create new event." All actions other than browsing events require login, either via email/password or via FB. People who have chosen to attend an event are guided via the "on the way" screen (with GPS navigation to the location). After the event the host and the attendee can give each other feedback. The main menu options are "browse events," "create event," "my contacts," "my events" and "settings." The screens to be designed are "BROWSE EVENTS," "CREATE EVENT," "ON THE WAY," "PUBLIC PROFILE" and "FEEDBACK SCREEN"
What to avoid
The market is oversaturated with location based apps that are dating-oriented, photo-heavy and feature smiling, hip teenagers everywhere. This is fine and successful in its niche, but the idea here is really to create a tool for meeting new people, really, in the real world, without stigma or prejudice, and for a wide population segment, i.e. anyone who wants to expand their social circle. So again, simple and clean does it.
