JoSeattle got their new app design by running a design contest:
Design a refreshed look for a successful and established behavioral health app platform

2Morrow Health addresses unhealthy behaviors in a whole new way. By using an innovative approach called acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT) the program helps users become aware of unhelpful thoughts and patterns so they can move forward with committed action toward their goals. Programs that we currently provide on our platform include: - Tobacco Cessation (Smoking, Vaping, Smoking While Pregnant, Quit Culture) - Weight Management - Stress Management - Chronic Pain - Grief, Loss, and Change The platform and programs are being used by employers, wellness programs, retailers, states and health plans to help their populations reach their health goals.
This is a design refresh of our current platform. We will not be changing the function of the current app, so the designer will need to keep that in mind. However, all design elements are open for update. The design was originally created about seven years ago, and with the boom of more recent digital health apps, it is feeling outdated. We would like the app to feel more relevant to today’s standards in line with the innovative work that we do. It should be welcoming and engaging as we are helping people to change behaviors in order to meet their goals. This is a very personal experience. We welcome ideas with illustrations , icons, photography, or a mixture. With photography, we are open to photos of people, however, we want to make sure that we are showing diversity. In that regard, we are also OK not showing people. Currently our platform has a darker background. We are open to other colors as you see fit with the design. If you have specific questions or need additional guidance, please feel free to reach out directly.
This app platform is primarily used by employees who are incentivized by their employer wellness teams to complete the programs. The user first selects the program they would like to work on. They then fill out a short profile questionnaire which then takes them to the main page. On this page, the user is able to open the first core lesson. Once that core lesson is completed, the next one unlocks. On the main page, the user also receives messages, and can interactively record awareness and actions. There is a menu on the bottom of the main page where users can tap to visit a library containing all lessons, and view a progress page showing program progress as well as personal outcomes. The goal of the program is for the user to receive a certificate of completion. Criteria to do so includes filling out the profile, completing all core lessons, tracking 10 awareness and 10 actions on the main page, and visiting the app on seven separate days. I am including here a link where you can sign up for a free trial of the app. This will give you a better understanding of how the current app looks, feels, and behaves, and you can see the screens in action. https://2morrowhealth.net/2MH_eval Screens we would like re-designed (I have downloaded screenshots for each, however, there is more to each page than what the screenshot captures when you scroll down, so you may get a better feel by visiting the app): Screen 1: Select a Program Page Screen 2: Main Page Screen 3: Lesson Page Screen 4: Progress Page
What to avoid
We are used mostly on phones but also on web so the design must be responsive. Right now we look bad on tablets partly because our content is bite sized. Accessibility is something else to consider. We MUST use HTML/CSS for rendering and we do support older browsers, so no outlandish animations. Asset size is a consideration, small as possible.
Every design category has flexible pricing for all budgets. App design starts at $599.
