Mountain of Love

Mountain of Love are a new band formed by Piers Marsh and Eddie Real, 2 of the 3 founding members of Alabama 3, the writers of the Sopranos theme tune, Woke Up This Morning.

Our Music is a swampy and danceable blend of Electronica, Reggae, Dub and Blues. We would describe it as British/European urban dance music aimed at the discerning, mature, alternative end of the music market.

We wish to distance ourselves from the Americana/Country & Western vibe of our previous band.

We need a CD sleeve designing for our eponymously titled, self produced and funded debut album "Mountain of Love".

We wish to produce a 4 sided digipack with spine and CD label. The templates for these are included for download. The front cover being the most important as this would also be used for digital downloads too.

Other files available include our branding materials available as an Adobe Illustrator file, some photographs of the band, a sampler mp3 of the album and sleeve notes/credits as a text file, record label logo.

We don't have a specific design brief but ask that the design try to reflect our vision of ourselves and our music as serious, urban, mature, alternative and tasteful (but not without a sense of fun!). Preferably, we would like a striking, thinking out of the box, cool design. Try not to get hung up on mountains. We do ask that our branding be applied and all of the information from the sleeve notes/credits be used in the design. ie You must use our typeface for "Mountain of Love" that is provided in the MoL_LOGOS.ai file, if you need this in a different format, please contact us. You do not have to use the graphic and the typeface together, in fact I would probably prefer them to be used separately.

You do not have to use the photographs we have provided, and do NOT use the band photographs on the front cover, we are far too old and ugly to be featured there!I am not keen on untreated colour photographs at all. We are most likely to prefer designs that do not use our photographs, however we are prepared to be surprised if you can use them in unexpected or arty ways!

We request that the track listing be included on the back cover and that there be a space left for a barcode in the bottom right.

Please DO NOT use any copyrighted images in the design, we shall be checking for copyright violations and will not be able to use any designs that do violate copyright.

After submitting initial rough designs please DO NOT proceed until we have approved the design, we do not wish to waste anyone's time by letting them continue with a design that has no chance of winning.

We hope that this will be the beginning of an ongoing relationship with the winning designer. We will be needing extra designs in the future for singles taken from the album and would like to be able to maintain a consistent look. These designs would be much simpler, just one square design as the singles will be download only.
