Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
We are the newest recruits of Melbourne's Metropolitan Fire Brigade, and the target audience is simply ourselves and our family members.
This logo will not be distributed externally outside of this group, and will go onto t-shirts, hoodies, caps, etc for the 30 firefighters only.
What inspires you and how do you envision the design for your business?
We are looking for a hexagon outline/border with the text FIRE RESCUE MELBOURNE in the border. Inside of the border, we would like two axes crossed over each other, with the text "est. 2016" or "since 2016" around it (see whiteboard sketches for layout of text around axes). We are happy to play with the layout and sizing of this part of the design, and also thinking this alone with the text "Squad 119" could be a smaller design for the front of a t-shirt, with the full emblem on the back.
The main focal point will be text that says "SQUAD 119".
For the background behind the text we have two styles in mind
-Melbourne City skyline.
With the Melbourne skyline, we are happy to look at a variety of designs, maybe water at the bottom (see whiteboard sketches) to represent the Yarra River, but mainly we want to see a few key iconic structures (Eureka tower, MCG, Rialto tower, Arts Centre spire, etc).
Colour- simple black on white.
Style- simple, modern and clean. Aiming for longevity with the logo, some example of interesting emblems and a Pinterest board of styles we like attached.
Tone- to be all inclusive. Steering away from a “macho" look.
