Community & Non-Profit
We're a non-profit creative writing center that helps writers learn the craft of creative expression and navigate the publishing industry.
What's your vision?
We're looking for an image that we can use as the front of a 5" x 7" postcard, as well as a header image on our website (http://museandthemarketplace2015.com). The postcard is an advertisement for the nation's premier writing and publishing conference, now in its 14th year, that is attended by over 900 people. We'd like the postcard to feel energetic and fun but also convey that this is a serious event for serious writers. We typically aren't attracted to images that make use of "familiar" writing images (pens, paper, people with their heads down writing) and prefer images that play with the idea of "muse" and "marketplace" in a fresh and interesting way. We also like designs that are clean and not too busy. We're excited to see what you come up with! We would like the files designed in Illustrator and/or InDesign. Along with the 5x7 postcard image, we'd like a version that we can use as a header for our WordPress site. It can just say "Muse and the Marketplace" on it and should have the same look and feel as the postcard. All designs should also work well with our organization's main brand, which you can see at www.grubstreet.org. People will visit our main site and then travel to the wordpress site to register for the conference, so we want the look and feel to be consistent. After seeing many of the designs that have already come through, I'd like to emphasize that we'd like the design to be CREATIVE and play with the idea of "Muse" and/or "Marketplace" in a fun way. Most of the designs that have come through so far are not all that fun, fresh, or interesting. We are a creative writing center, and we'd like our poster to be a bit provocative, surprising, and interesting. If that requires the purchase of stock imagery or stock illustration, we'd be open to that, though we couldn't pay more than about $250 for it.
I'm attaching previous versions of the poster to show you what we like. We also recently redesigned our main website, so please look at http://www.grubstreet.org to get a sense of our style. I'll attach our logo and our color palette here too--please use these colors. Here is the text that MUST be included on the image, in whatever placement you choose: The Muse and the Marketplace Grub Street's 14th Annual Literary Conference Intensive writing seminars. Expert Publishing Advice. One-on-One Manuscript Consultations. Networking with Top Literary Agents, Editors, and Authors. Write What You Love, Sell What You Write May 1st-3rd, 2015 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel Keynote speaker: Junot Diaz and Jane Friedman museandthemarketplace2015.com
