1. Understand the Brand and Target Audience
Brand Identity: Capture the brand’s values, whether it’s casual, fine dining, healthy, or fast food. This will influence design elements, colors, and fonts.
Target Audience: Understand who will be reading the menu (e.g., families, young professionals, health-conscious individuals) so that the design and menu items resonate.
2. Choose a Format and Layout
Size and Shape: Decide whether the menu will be a single-page, fold-out, booklet, or digital format. Each has different space and presentation implications.
Structure: Organize items logically. Group dishes by category (e.g., appetizers, mains, desserts, drinks) and place the most popular or signature items in prominent locations for easy access.
3. Establish a Color Scheme
Brand Colors: Use colors that reflect the brand’s style (e.g., earthy tones for organic brands, bright colors for fast food).
