How sbeavan started their web page design journey
Who are you known as?
Carnegie Science | Human Resources
Tell us a bit about who you are and the people you reach
Our audience will be human resource professionals, scientists, new hiring employees and department managers.
We would like the pages to have an attractive modern design and easy for users to read and navigate.
People going to this page are looking for benefits information, HR related information, etc.
What industry do you think your business is most related to?
Community & Non-Profit
What do you have in mind for the style and theme of the web page?
The current site is not attractive and badly organized.
Visually the current site is hard to read and draws your eye more toward the banner than the content.
We are looking for a modern and clean view.
Responsive friendly design.
Easy for users to navigate.
-Headers will have our logo and menu.
-Then big image with text block beside it, like the example site.
-And then calendar information (not a real calendar, something modern), a video or image and FAQ column in the same row.
-Then we want Facebook feed block, with latest articles block in the same row. On the bottom we want a carousel to display perks, then footers at last.
Headers will logo plus categories like "Benefits". We like a nice external link button at the end of the menu row. Then full-width image or carousel. And then information cards with a right sidebar, similar to https://cardinalatwork.stanford.edu…rds/health.
What to avoid
While I am fine with a customer having to scroll the page a little, it should be limited. Ideally, customers want to find content quickly without a lot of scrolling.
Avoid overusing color palette. Clean is preferable, similar to apple.com. We prefer a minimal palette, which can be chosen from the colors in our style guide.
The content should be easy to read and the site easy to navigate.
Fonts should be from the selection in the style guide attached.
