Business Overview iFlavours designs, develops and operates data-intensive Internet services focused on the consumer and business markets. iFlavours was founded in 1999 and is based in Amsterdam. There are currently about 35 employees working for the two labels. Currently iFlavours is carrying the labels EuroClix and PanelClix (www.euroclix.nl & www.panelclix.com/nl). EuroClix is a point loyalty system where we connect our members to advertisers/online retailers, in a performance-based way. Visitors sign up and receive offers from us or find those on the website; when ordering something with the retailers, they collect points. The points can be exchanged for cash. PanelClix uses the same member base as EuroClix, to conduct online field work for research companies and uses the points system from EuroClix to reward respondents for their efforts. Last year we decided to build an additional label, that has a similar concept as the EuroClix label. The new label We are currently building a new website/service/community/platform which uses the same Target group/Users as our existing labels. The name of the label is Needle. Needle is a community platform where users can share offers/deals they found themselves, both online and offline, with the community. This is not a new concept, since platforms such as Pepper.com have been around for some while. Needle’s USP however, is that people are rewarded for their effort to share the deals they find. When sharing the deals on Needle, they do not only receive social gratification or achievement badges, but also receive a portion of the commission we receive from the retailer for the sales or leads that were tracked. Why is it named Needle? ‘I’m looking for a needle in a haystack’; you’re looking for that one thing you can’t find in all the clutter. Needle offers that deal you want, in the clutter of deals. In a time where shops have sale all year round, your physical mailbox is stuffed with leaflets and brochures, your inbox is exploding with advertisements, day deals have lost their ‘I NEED THAT’ status a long time ago, the day has come to separate the good deals from the plentiful average deals. So, finding the needle (really good deals) in a haystack (the endless stream of ‘deals’ we are swamped with every day) is what we try to accomplish with Needle. And of course, the name incorporates the word ‘Need’… Target group/Users The target group for Needle are those visitors/users who can relate to at least on of the following characteristics: > Looking for a good deal; > Keen on saving cash; > Happy to share a good deal with others; > Fed up with finding mediocre deals all over the web; > Receptive for obtaining social gratification; > Receptive for obtaining a cash bonus for their efforts. Needle will be available in the Netherlands and will be made available across several channels and devices, so it has to appeal to people from all age and gender groups. It does not specifically relate to a distinct group As stated above, users will use Needle als a place where they not only find the best deals, but also get rewarded for sharing the greatest deals. It will be a community page or a online social gathering as such.
We are looking for a concept design for our yet to be build ‘offer community’ website. Since there is no existing site or branding yet, the designer has a fair amount of freedom to fill in the design. For this assignment, we are looking for an entire graphic/UI/UX design package, for the Needle website; > logo > color scheme > fonts > icons > frames/boxes > style guides > page lay out > common elements >> sliders >> search field >> text field >> buttons >> filter controls >> dividers >> error message lay out The design has to be based on the wire frame pages, for structure and desired elements. Keywords/values for the design are: simple, attractive, colourful, not loud, trustworthy, social, minimalistic, price savvy, up to date, social, personal, exclusive, friendly. And last but not least: the needle theme and the USP* need to be compliment each other in a catchy way and clear in the wink of an eye. * USP: users are rewarded for their effort to share the deals they find The new design has to work with a responsive layout and needs to be usable for both large screens as smaller (mobile) screens, when looking at the design.

The main assignment is the creation of a design concept for three pages. Upon approval of a design, the follow up assignment will be the creation of the design, UI and UX of the entire web application of 20+ pages. For the follow up assignment, it will be required to sign a NDA.
