communitygis got their new web page design by running a design contest:
Fresh look needed for a new installation of an existing trails website
Check out communitygis's Web page design contest…
QC Trails is a new online trails website for the Quad Cities region of Illinois and Iowa (United States). The primary goal of the website is to help connect people to outdoor trail experiences in their communities, especially for promoting healthy living and physical fitness. Some of the kinds of trails in this region include hiking, walking, running, mountain biking, road biking, paddling, horseback riding, and historical trails.
The new QCTrails website needs to provide a fresh look while maintaining the general structure and format of an existing website interface/template that we have used for other trails websites that we have launched for our clients. The existing website that needs to be modified can be seen at www.trailfinder.info. We have a new logo to work with that can be used to guide color selection and styling (this is attached). New home page and header designs are top priority; inner trails page redesign and trail search page (Find Trails) needs to follow the same structure as seen on trailfinder.info but can be restyled. Here is a sample inner page from Trailfinder.info: http://www.trailfinder.info/trails/trail/hypertherm-trails The interface needs to reflect the landscape of the region as well. The "Quad Cities" area is dominantly urban with a major river running through it. Terrain is generally flat and more gentle - no big mountains. Trails are generally flat - nothing extreme or angular.
