Community & Non-Profit
Civic Knowledge is a service to civic-oriented data analysis – primarily investigative journalists – that helps them tell stories with data by providing: a forum for data analysis questions; a market place to buy and sell data; a repository for processed data sets. Civic Knowledge has not been built yet; we are in the analysis stages, so we need a site that can explain to people what the Civic Knowledge concept is about and have them register to help with the design and register for the beta test. See https://clarinova.box.com/s/9cc5ae358bc311c44bd1 for a creative brief document.
We need two page designs Home page Inner page The home page should have: -- The typical, currently popular, slide show for the major proposed product features or benefits. -- News and announcements. These are ~100 word summaries of articles, such as on the DocumentCloud site -- A Call-to-Action button. Initially, this will be "Get Involved", "Request A Feature", or "Register for the Beta". The CTA should be the most prominent feature of the home page. -- A sidebar with smaller news items, a menu, twtter feed, etc. The typical large footer with a sitemap. The inner pages should have sidebar menus, a shallow header with a top level menu, and possibly a second level menu. The content of these pages will be primarily either an article or a blog post. There will be inner pages that have lists of blog posts; these lists can have the same design as the article list in the home page.
The logo hasn't been designed yet, so the logo file is just a placeholder, although we do expect the final image to be a similar sort of word mark.

Eric Busboom collaborated with designers to refine their ideas
When design entries come in, you can rate them so designers know what you’re looking for in your logo design.
99designs has great collaboration tools so you can pinpoint and capture your ideas
And then… they selected a winner!
Along the way, they met lots of talented designers…
We think contests are a super fun way to get design.
