Attorney & Law
The Web site www.FoodLawGroup.com is intended for promoting a specialty law practice group or firm that provides comprehensive legal and technical services to the food manufacturing industry. The goal of the site is to position us to compete with major law firms and consulting firms. The site should have that look and feel - corporate, sophisticated, serious about business, experienced, connected, and tuned-in to the industry. The target audience is owners and operators of food manufacturing and distribution companies, large (e.g. Kraft), medium, (and small (gourmet food startups, micro brewers, etc.), as well as paper and other food packaging materials manufacturers. We want site to showcase our services, experience, people, to help sell our services. We also want the site to be a go-to site for information and news. So, along with advertising us, we want viewers to come back to the site regularly, as a reliable information resource (page 3). We also will showcase our clients (e.g. one per month - the "client of the month") particularly the interesting new startups, for among other reasons, to show that we care about our clients and their success. So, the site will actively promote clients too. For the news and info page, we will look for a special news-style design. A good template for the 3rd page/news page is found at Wordpress templates, under "Modern News." If we decide to use that, I'll buy it and deliver it to you.
The main thing is to position us to appear competitive with large law firms and food industry consulting firms. The site should have a serious, corporate, business look and feel. Images are important with themes being: (1) food manufacturing, (2) professional/legal. Probably use 3 colors, with main color navy blue, maybe with red, and with silver or grey background color. See attached images for color consistency ideas. Typography should be similar to what legal and business firms use.
Initially, we would like 3 pages designed. Page 1 will be homepage, and page 2 will be to set the design for all internal pages, and page 3 will be a specially designed news and info. It may also be a stand along page on the Web, as "Food Law News" www.FoodLawNews.com. So, there will be a second phase - another project for you - where we will build out more pages. FoodLawGroup, will inform potential clients regarding: (1) ABOUT US - OUR FOCUS, and our value proposition. (2) about our professional EXPERIENCE as a team, including individual biographies; (3) about our specific SERVICES (a list); and (4) about how to CONTACT and Hire us (including a form/method for submitting requests for information and services (RFPs) . And, also the NEWS AND INFORMATION (3rd) page. Page Descriptions (a) ABOUT US - OUR FOCUS: Will be a page with approx three or four full paragraphs of text. Images will be designed into the page, along some design concept. (b) EXPERIENCE: Will be a page with one or two paragraphs of text, and then separate biographies of (probably two-column, with 6 bios, with area for head shot photos. (c) SERVICES: Will be a page largely consisting of a list of services. We may want to have the lists clickable to expand out to pages that provide more information about each services area. (d) CONTACT: Will be a page that provides the most effective ways prompt readers to contact us, for information, services, etc. We may want to put together a form that walks them through a process. But we should also have simple contact info such as phone, email, street address etc. Social media tools should be incorporated into the site on this page and also others, wherever it makes sense. (e) FOOD LAW NEWS & INFORMATION: Food Law News & Information: Will be a page that delivers a daily newsfeed and information links about food law and industry developments. Suggested template = Wordpress "Modern News." This could or will also be a stand alone site.
What to avoid
Avoid standard blog look and feel -- this is intended to be a company/firm Web, with news and info, but not Blog-style. More like slick home page/advertising style. Avoid using agricultural images, such as images of fruits & veg, farms, cows. Avoid showing specific food brands - use generic. This is about selling professional services. I would generally tend to avoid stock images that have a lot of people in them, and stick to stock images involving food manufacturing, distribution (facilities and trucks) industrial and legal theme. Lean more toward abstract examples. I've included some sample or suggested images to use. For the examples, I am using iStockPhoto.com . Also have used Getty or Photodisc. I will purchase what you ultimately recommend. We will probably add our head shots to our bios on the About Us page, but not right away ·because we don't have any that are consistent. So, if there is a way to design around not having those images, we should do it.
The images are examples. Feel free to find similar and better images. Or you can just go with what I've provided. i will be hands-on about this project, so feel free to contact me regularly with any questions and ideas.
