Vill.Ent got their new web page design by running a design contest:
The Lakeland Center needs a new website design

Entertainment & The Arts
The Lakeland Center is a Convention Center, Theater and Arena that features various events, from comedy shows to conferences to sports events. The website should sell events that are ticketed. Trying to pull in the younger demographic while still appealing to our current demographic. Also, sell the venue for non-ticketed events. Event planners/organizers/Meeting planners.
- User friendly, clutter-free - Social Media must be incorporated - Simple/Sleek - Vibrant/Fresh/Modern colors. Here is a list of other websites we like, feel free to use any of them as style reference: dpacnc.com blumenthalarts.org Lincolncathedral.com Wantist.com Garbage.ro Vtech.trefl.com Lamoulade.com Rocknations.com
Please keep in mind while reading these concept descriptions that this website WILL be responsive and that a mobile design is very important. Please make sure your designs can be easily converted into responsive designs. These designs can be up to 1500px wide, but no smaller than 960px for the desktop designs. 1. Home Page - This page should include an "Event Showcase" section where photos can rotate to highlight our upcoming events. The rotator can be done in a number of ways, from a carousel to an image fader, we leave the decision up to the designer. Along with this, it should have a section where items can be included as important items, in case they're anticipated events, but not quite 'upcoming'. 2. Interior Page - This page should match the home page in look and feel, but should have only two columns. This should have a right sidebar we can use to include highlighted information and/or a small calendar/events list. 3. Responsive Mobile Concept - This design should be 480px wide, no larger. This will be a responsive version of the home page and/or interior page designs to show what the design looks like when on a mobile phone as a browser.
What to avoid
We would like to stay away from Red and Gold. We'd like to move away from using an actual calendar on the front page. Clicking dates on a miniature calendar can be annoying and it won't work well for mobile users once the responsive design kicks in. Instead of month calendars, can we try to stick to 'listing' type event elements?
Feel free to experiment with colors and even alter the logo's coloring and/or texture to match your design. We very much like the 'folded paper' look for headers on websites, here is a website that does it on the headers for the left sidebar and on the footer as well: http://www.humanesocietyofpolkcounty.org/ The website will need drop-down menus, so if possible, please include a design for them in your concept!
