Dan Pickett got their new web page design by running a design contest:
LaunchWare: A Killer Web Application Development Agency Needs a New Site
Check out Dan Pickett's Web page design contest…
We are a web application development agency. We specialize in building rich client applications with Ruby on Rails, JQuery, and BackboneJS
http://clearleft.com/ - I really like the layout and the way the page is "sectioned" out http://www.goinvo.com/ - While vastly different from the approach we want to take from a navigation standpoint, I like how the site is very photograph and work product driven. http://orderedlist.com/ - I really appreciate the simplicity of their communication and design. I draw a lot of inspiration from this team.
We're rebranding from Enlight Solutions to LaunchWare. The index page should give a great overview of what we can do for the customer. The emphasis here is on "How we can help" and less on "Who we are" I'm relatively happy with the copy I've drafted in the attached PDF, but feel free to adapt if necessary for the design. I've attached the PDF as a means to communicate the copy I want on the page, and not as a way to dictate layout. I am committed to the idea of that initial banner at the top having some kind of rocketry backdrop or ignition type backdrop to support the idea of "getting off the ground" with us. This banner will be a slideshow with a few other rotating images and calls to action. A "Get Started" button should be prominently placed somewhere within that component. Each section should be clearly defined/distinguished from the previous and next section. Some kind of border, background color/texture contrast, and/or shadow is desired here. I'd love for a consistent way to display testimonials, as I want them to be prevalent throughout the site. The primary objective is to get prospective clients to contact us. The secondary objective is to get them to engage in another meaningful way, whether that be viewing our portfolio, signing up for our newsletter, or subscribing to our Blog's rss.
Our audience is typically in the entrepreneurial community. We also get a lot of technically oriented visitors. Generally, our demographic tends to be males from 25-40 This layout will be used across other pages, so there's opportunity for additional work. I also want to design 2 or 3 more banner images to rotate in with the "Up and Running" banner. Please comply with the logo guidelines as it relates to font. I've also supplied the color palette I would prefer to incorporate as part of the brand & identity. This layout will be adapted to be responsive in nature so that it looks good on mobile and tablet devices in addition to the traditional web medium. It would be great to incorporate some more images and texture so that the page does not appear too text heavy.
