Games & Recreational
Bowling, Billiards, Arcade, Bar, Food, Games... Albany Bowl has it all! We offer a fun experience and environment for individuals, groups, corporate or private parties, kids, anyone! We also have a pro-shop, leagues, special events and more. The Albany bowl has been a fixture in the East Bay for over 60 years. Our attention to personal service and maintaining a lively and exciting atmosphere at our alley has made us one of the top nightlife spots in the area. We also have deep ties in the community, as well as UC Berkeley.
http://www.bowlluckystrike.com/ We really like this site, but they are our competition so our design cannot be 'ripped-off' from them. This is the kind of feel we're going for, though. Dark design with a nice slideshow, a not-overwhelming bowling theme, and plenty of regions on the home page for teasers (though we might need a bit more). We like the way the slogan is included at the top right... we'd like an area in our design where we can place a slogan, however we will want the slogan to cycle through a bank of different slogans on each page load, so bear that in mind while designing.
Overall design: Should be fun and engaging. Most of our business happens at night, so we're looking for a design with a dark background and lively graphics. We cater mostly to an adult audience (we have a full bar) but we also want to make sure the design doesn't look like something kids can't come to. We hold a lot of parties and events for kids too! Basically, we want it to be 'fun' and lively but not 'cartoony'. A modest amount of bowling-specific theming is good, for instance to have the icons for the slideshow pager be little bowling pins, things like that. The background image might also have a bowling theme of some kind, but should not distract from the content. We have a ton of content and sections planned for this site, so the main menu should be horizontal along the top, with room for 10 or 12 top-level items. Please include an example of a dropdown in your design. Home Page: We want to feature a LOT of teaser content on our home page. The home page should have a prominent slideshow at the top with a partially transparent overlay to include a message/link/announcement on every slide. Beneath the slideshow, we'll want numerous areas to feature the following: - Special Deals - Upcoming Events - Links to Prices - Contact information (in header would be fine too) - Portal links for Corporate/Student/Family/Kids - Latest Blog Post - Reservations - Newsletter Signup The areas do not need to be specifically designed to each of these item, we just want to have enough regions available. We'll also want an area for a "Welcome" type message. Inside Page: This will be a generic inside page, you can fill it with generic About Page type content (text, image). There should be a sidebar region so we can place sidebar widgets on any page. The slideshow that is present on the homepage should drop out.
We do not currently have a logo, so any stylized text with our company name "The Albany Bowl" will be fine in place of that. If we like two of the designs, we will an additional prize.
